A return to the desert and a few instagram saves to celebrate

Yesterday I landed back home from Mexico City and took the time to assemble another issue of Seven Saved Posts. This time focusing on the beauty of the spaces and nature here in Arizona, or those that look like they could belong to the Southwest. Hope you enjoy, and getting another issue ready for next week.

With love,

last night’s storm felt like a collective exhale. this morning, the scent of petrichor still lingered in the air, mixing with sunscreen and sweat. these are the markers that summer has arrived. not on a calendar, but in smell, in light, in the way the landscape responds to rain.
richard shelton wrote that “even the rain, when it falls, is coming home.” i thought about this on the trail this morning - rain is a return to something essential.. the water finding its way through washes and arroyos. the scent rising from the soil. ocotillos will soon leaf out, the sonoran desert toad has emerged from places that seemed impossibly dry only days before. what appeared to be dormant has been waiting all along.
the desert is just waking up.
